My Dearest Readers,
It is with a bursting heart that I approach this Valentine's Day. Your overwhelming support of The Toll Road North has changed my life - and even though I tend to exaggerate, I promise you, I'm being truthful here.
Here's the thing about writing a book: you climb the virtual writing mountain and eventually make it to the top with a finished work. Then you have to decide to sit and enjoy the view, alone with your work, or leap from the mountaintop into the great unknown. Publishing was the free-fall. I had no idea how long it would go on, or where we would land.
Having the book land in your hands, and hearing how much you have loved it, was literally the most rewarding and humbling experience of my life.
Now that Valentine's Day is approaching, I'm hoping you will send me a Valentine - in a very specific and shamelessly self-promoting manner. My new goal is to have my book make it into that most hallowed of book places: Maine Public's All Books Considered. The new host, Bill Nemitz, is reviewing recommendations from listeners. Would you please be a recommender for me? Send your love for The Toll Road North by email to fun@mainepublic.org.
Thank you, as always, for following The Toll Road North,
Peggy
BTW, the email to MBPN is out the door!

Peggy--
I've been meaning to write a quick note since finishing The Toll Road North several months ago. First, it was a wonderful read; engaging characters, familiar location, and compelling storyline. What struck me the most, however, was how impacted I was by your ending. I found myself connecting emotionally to the characters and the story's end in a way that surprised me. I identified with Dee's reaction to her son's reflections to her home town. The generational challenge you portray can impact us all . . . and The Toll Road North does a great job of bringing that forward. Thanks for a mighty fine read. I hope we see more!
